Matteo isn’t just a cat—he’s a quiet presence of peace and connection. This stunning Scottish Fold is as unique in personality as he is in appearance. His folded ears and deep, almost mystical blue eyes give him an unforgettable look, but it’s his spirit that truly captivates.

His Personality:

Matteo has the wise, calm energy of an old soul wrapped in a young cat’s body. He’s laid-back and loving, happiest when nestled in your arms or stretched across your lap, soaking up your affection like sunshine. He’s a lap cat, a window watcher, and a gentle companion who brings quiet joy wherever he goes.

Independent and observant, Matteo prefers the company of people to other cats, although he may be open to relaxed feline housemates. He enjoys having his own space to retreat to—but will often sing you a tune when he’s alone (his vocal range is part opera, part comedy). He’s smart, self-aware, and expressive—he’ll make you laugh one minute and melt your heart the next.

Fun fact: He loves to sleep on his back with all four paws in the air. It’s as endearing as it sounds.

His Health Journey:

Matteo’s journey to adoption has been nothing short of extraordinary. Initially considered a euthanasia case due to severe kidney concerns, his story turned around thanks to the dedication of his rescue team and the miracles of modern medicine. He underwent cutting-edge Blast Wave Lithotripsy treatment at the University of Minnesota—successfully clearing his kidneys and giving him a second chance at life.

Today, Matteo is thriving. His most recent veterinary checkup showed continued improvement, and his only ongoing need is a prescription early renal diet to support his kidneys. We’ll set his future family up with everything needed to keep Matteo healthy, happy, and cuddled.

Matteo would be wonderful as a very spoiled only cat or in a calm home with other relaxed cats. He isn’t high energy, but he is high affection. His ideal people are those who will truly see him—the way he sees them—with empathy, love, and wonder.

Rescue Story

Matteo once had a home, or at least, he thought he did. But before he could truly settle into the warmth of belonging, he was abandoned. Left to fend for himself, he faced a world that was far too harsh, too lonely, too unkind for a soul as gentle as his. Fate, however, had other plans. A rescuer found Matteo and took him in, offering him safety and care. For a while, it seemed like his wandering heart had finally found a place to rest. But life can be unpredictable, and soon, his rescuer could no longer keep him. That’s when we learned about him. She sent him away with a group of other cats, hoping he would find a new home. The thought of Matteo, so trusting yet so vulnerable, facing uncertainty again- even the streets- iwas unthinkable. He had already known loss, and we wouldn’t let him go through it again. Without hesitation, we stepped in. Matteo doesn’t have to be afraid anymore. Now, he knows what it means to be truly safe. To be held close, to be cherished, to hear the quiet promises that he will never be left behind again.
